VARIOUS teaching methods such as broadcasting of lessons on radio or television is getting its fair share of approval among educators.

Carmina Allam of Tuguegarao East Central School said using both radio and television as mode of learning in this time of the Covid19 pandemic is valuable.

‘Ito ay napakahalaga dahil naipaparating ang aralin sa pamamagitan ng pagsasahimpapawid sa radyo na nakaaabot kahit na sa malayo o liblib na lugar. Kahit nasa bahay ka lamang, buksan mo lang ang iyong radyo ay natututo ka na,,” said Allam.

Aside from printed modules, lessons for Grades 1 to 12 and Alternative Learning System in the province can also be heard on radio.

The Department of Education-Tuguegarao City got a big hand from radio station DZDA 105.3 FM as it assisted the department in launching the radio-based instruction where a teacher is ‘on air’ from Monday to Friday by the start of classes on October 5.

While the method may be new to a lot of people, Allam believes that radio based instruction will sharpen the abilities of students by listening smartly since their attention is focused on the subject matter. And while they are listening, they also answer questions from different activities.

Allam hopes radio based instructions can encourage parents to also listen and guide and monitor their children with their studies.

Meanwhile, some officials of the city government will distribute radio sets to learners who need it to ensure that they will listen to lessons on air.
