CLASS SUSPENSION IN U.P. DEPENDS ON PAGASA TYPHOON ADVISORY

/ 18 December 2021

THE SUSPENSION of online classes during typhoons will be based on the advisories issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, the University of the Philippines said on Friday.

It issued the statement in response to the call of students to suspend classes because of Typhoon Odette.

“Faculty members may check their class lists to know their students’ current region of residence. The guidelines for suspension of remote learning activities based on storm signals applied to areas identified by PAGASA,” the school said.

In the guidance issued by Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo on October 27, 2020, class suspensions will be on a case-to-case basis, and will depend on the storm warning signal in the place where the students reside.

Student groups earlier asked the postponement of the submission of requirements due to the typhoon.

The UPLB denied the request.
