ATENEO DE MANILA UNIVERSITY SUSPENDS COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM FOR UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR
ATENEO de Manila University is suspending its college entrance exam for academic year 2020-2021 amid the rising cases of Covid19 in the country.
“We know there is a lot of going on and we don’t want to create more unneeded drama and stress. There will be no Ateneo College Entrance Test for School Year 2020-2021,” the university announced.
According to the school, applicants are classified into two types, depending on the school and graduation status the students belong to during the application period.
“You are considered first year college applicant if you are still in the last year of senior high school, or if you have not taken any college or university units/courses before and/or during the application period. Similarly, you are considered a transfer applicant if you have already taken units/courses in college or university,” ADMU stated.
“You are considered a local applicant if you are studying in, or graduated from, a school inside the Philippines. You are considered a foreign applicant if you are studying in, or graduated from, a school outside the Philippines,” the school added.
The university stated admission is determined by the applicant’s fitness and preparation for the college programs, ability to contribute toward the enrichment of the undergraduate school community, and potential to be of service to others within the context of national development.
ADMU likewise formed The Committee on Admission and Aid for selecting new students for the next school year.
“It bases its decisions principally on the applicant’s past academic performance, on the recommendations of teachers, essay, and on information written down on the application form,” it said.
Interested students in select Metro Manila schools may apply through the Edukasyon.phportal.
Meanwhile, students from the rest of the country may apply through the Ateneo College Admissions portal.
International students, on the other hand, may apply through Ateneo Global portal.
Instructions for transferees will be posted on November 2020.
Application started last September 1 and lasts until December 1.
Results on applications will be released on February of 2021.
