VISAYAS STATE U STUDENTS WIN IN VISAYAS ECONOMIC CONFERENCE

/ 1 October 2021

TWO Economics students of the Visayas State University bagged top prizes in the essay writing contest of the Visayas Economic Conference, an event organized by the Philippine Economics Society.

Senior student Nathaniel C. Noya and freshman Niño John Vitor bested all other candidates from other participating schools within the Visayas region.

Noya’s essay “When It Includes Everyone” received the People’s Choice Award after garnering the most number of reactions and shares in social media.

It tackled the importance of mainstreaming economic literacy in reaching out to everyone so that inclusive economic growth is also felt by the marginalized.

Meanwhile, Vitor’s entry, “Economics: A Science of Choice and Change,” delves into the significance of economics in various sectors of society.

This year’s conference theme was anchored on “Engendering Encouraging Economics Education and Knowledge for Nation Building” and was co-presented by the University of the Philippines Visayas, University of San Carlos and VSU.
