/ 8 August 2021

AAMBIS-OWA Partylist Rep. Sharon Garin filed a measure that will strengthen the operations of rural farm schools.

House Bill 9914 seeks to amend certain provisions of Republic Act 10618 or the Rural Farm Schools Act to further emphasize the need for community-led projects ang programs.

Garin said that the bill aims to provide more tax incentives to encourage the establishment of farm schools in every province, and if possible in every municipality.

The project also aims to generate jobs in rural areas and boost food security.

House Bill 9914 mandates the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to provide scholarship slots for community-led/private rural farm schools.

Under the bill, all importations made by the rural farm schools shall be exempt from taxes and duties.

All lands, building and improvements used for educational purposes by the rural farm schools shall be exempt from real property tax.
