GILAS PILIPINAS TO ARRIVE BACK HOME AFTER OQT BID
Gilas Pilipinas is expected to return to the Philippines on Saturday night after finishing their campaign for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) in Belgrade, Serbia.
The Philippine national men’s basketball team is now out of the tournament after bowing out to host Serbia and Dominican Republic in Group A.
According to a report, Gilas departed for Manila early Saturday morning (Manila time) on Friday night via Turkish airlines and is expected to arrive around seven in the evening.
The national team will be undergoing quarantine before going home to their families at a hotel near the Ninoy Aquino National Airport.
With their OQT bid now over, Gilas will be preparing next for the FIBA Asia Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia slated from August 17 to 29.
According to head coach Tab Baldwin, the team will take a short break before regrouping and preparing for their next task.
“We don’t know what the protocol measures will be, but it looks like it will be back to the Calamba bubble for us at this point. We’ll probably be looking at around July 20th to begin our preparations,” said Baldwin.
