THE UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas’ Graduate School Center for Conservation of Cultural Property and Environment in the Tropics and the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management turned over a heritage-based framework and tourism development plan to the municipal government of San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

Led by UST-GSCCCPET Director Eric Zerrudo, the project was named “Kinadur,” an Ilocano term for progress both in material and non-material things.

“The main objective of the project is to develop a contextualized overall heritage-based framework,” the university said.

“Also, part of the project is the development of the municipality’s Sustainable Tourism and Strategic Development Plan 2021-2025 in partnership with Tourism Management faculty researcher Jame Monren T. Mercado,” it added.

UST said the study aimed to determine the situation of the municipality, specifically its tourism industry development and analyze different related issues, constraints, and opportunities.

It will also assess the perspectives and views of different stakeholders on the sustainability and development of the municipality’s tourism resources.
