Trisha Paras powered the Lady Red Spikers with 15 points while Maxinne Joyce Tayag added 14 markers as they hacked out a poor start en route to their first win and improved to a 1-4 record.

Come the second set, San Beda came to life as it pulled off a 4-1 run from a 20-23 to tie at 24-all then Paras clutched for the set point before Cathrine Almazan went wide on her hit, 27-25, as San Beda tied the match, 1-1.

The Nemesio Gavino Jr.-mentored squad carried the momentum at the start of the third canto with a 5-0 lead but EAC responded and regained the lead, 18-17, before another error from the Lady Generals gave the set to San Beda, 25-23.

It was still a tight set coming into the fourth until a Jeanne Kristine Porto net touch violation gave the Lady Red Spikers a much-needed 24-22 cushion.

Almazan saved one match point through her drop ball but Paras fired the game-winning spike with a drop of her own to close the match, 25-23.

Almazan paced EAC with a season-high 28 points while Reyes added 21 markers to go along with seven excellent receptions as the team succumbed to a 0-5 win-loss standing.
