NU KEEPS FINAL FOUR BID ALIVE, BLASTS WINLESS UE

The NU Bulldogs gave another loss to the UE Red Warriors, 100-81, to boost its final four chances in the UAAP Season 84 men's basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday.

The Bulldogs started slow in the first quarter as the team only got a 21-20 lead but Enzo Joson proved that the team was just warming up and heated the team’s offense as he fired back-to-back three-pointers at the end of the first half of the game with 16 points lead, 52-36.

NU continued their dominance which UE cannot control as the former got the biggest lead at 22, 100-78, following a split from Jolo Manansala with 50.6 ticks left.

Joson led the Bulldogs with 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists, while Shaun Ildefonso chipped in 12 points, Germy Mahinay got 11 points and six boards, and Manansala had nine points and nine rebounds.

“Maganda yung balik namin coming four games na straight losses,” said coach Jeff Napa.

“At least magandang bwelo ito coming to Sunday’s game against La Salle. Di kami pwede maging complacent kasi wala na sa kamay namin yung sitwasyon sa Final Four. We have to be consistent” he added.

Harvey Pagsanjan paced the winless UE with 16 points, six rebounds, five assists, and one block, while Clint Escamis and Leon Lorenzana contributed 15 and 14 points, respectively.

NU will shoot for a make-or-break game against La Salle Green Archers on the final day of the elimination round on Sunday, May 1, at 4:30 pm, while  UE will try for their first win of the season against Adamson at 10 am.
