NU INCHES CLOSER TO UAAP SEASON 84 TITLE AFTER SWEEPING DLSI IN GAME 1

National University (NU) is just one victory away from bagging the title for the women’s volleyball UAAP Season 84 after defeating De La Salle University (DLSU) yesterday in a sweep.

NU fired power the Lady Spikers as Michaela Belen commandeered the team with her 16 points to seize three sets in a row, 25-20, 25-12, 25-21.

While Alyssa Solomon also helped in NU’s victory with her 15 points followed by Ivy Lacsina and Princess Robles’ 12 points a piece.

The first set was a close one for the DLSU as Alleiah Malaluan proved to be one of the top gunners of the team with her current spot as the 5 top scorers in the league.

After nabbing a heist in the first set, NU gave no chance to the DLSU and finished the second frame with no sweat of 13 points advantage after a 16-5 run from the 9-7 score.

The third set was also a close one but Solomon did not disappoint after her back-to-back hits to give NU the match point in pursuit of their first title since Season 19 back in 1957.

While Belen, the first player in UAAP history to bag the Rookie and MVP Award at the same time, showed consistency until the third set after pouring the winning point, 25-21.

Accordingly, Game 2 is set for June 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
