ARELLANO CRUISES PAST LETRAN IN A FOUR-SET MATCH

Arellano University (AU) dismissed Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL) after a four-set match, 25-13, 21-25, 25-16, 25-20, and secured the second solo in NCAA women’s volleyball at the Paco Arena in Manila.

The Lady Chiefs were able to kick off the first attack in the first set that easily sparked their advantage to a 17-9 scorecard followed by an 8-4 run to cap the first frame, 25-13.

But the Lady Knights retaliated after having the upper hand in the second set at 9-5 thanks to the rookie CK Calixto’s attack from the front row followed by Julienne Castro point.

The second set was a close one but Arellano was not able to close the four points deficit after a two consecutive misreceive from their libero, 21-25.

Arellano picked up their plays in the third set as Carla Donato commandeered the team with 16 points coming from a massive 13 kills and two blocks while joining the forces was Trina Abay by pouring 13 points.

Not making the same mistake twice, the Lady Chiefs reconnected again in the fourth set but Calixto was unstoppable with her career-high points of 10. However, Calixto was not enough to stop the whole squad of Lady Chiefs as the match ended at 25-20 with Nicole Sasuman’s attack.

With such a feat, Arellano moved to 5-1 with a three-game victory run and will attempt to win its fourth consecutive game against the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.

While Letran will look to recover against Emilio Aguinaldo College on Saturday.
