TNT’S BOBBY RAY PARKS TO MISS ACTION ON UPCOMING PBA SEASON
TNT Tropang Giga Bobby Ray Parks Jr. will be missing action on PBA Season 46 citing family reasons behind his decision, he announced on Saturday.
“It is with a heavy heart that I will have to excuse myself and not partake in this year’s PBA season due to personal reasons which in particular, my family,” wrote Parks on his Instagram post.
“It was not an easy decision to make, especially since I’ve been in constant talks with TNT management but right now, this is what’s best for me and my family,” the post continued.
The 28-year old guard was a key cog in steering TNT to its finals appearance during the Philippine Cup bubble averaging 22.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 steals in 17 games.
However, Parks Jr. did not see action during the finals series against Barangay Ginebra after suffering from a strained calf and Tropang Giga bowed out to the Gin Kings after five games in their best-of-seven series.
Parks Jr. expressed his gratitude to TNT and hoped to return and help with winning a title for the MVP-owned team.
“I will always be grateful for the opportunity to represent TNT and be part of such a special team and culture. Hopefully, one day, once everything is resolved, I can come back to the team and help bring a championship to TNT,” he said.
With Parks Jr. out of the season, this was a big blow to the Tropang Giga as he was a key player in their finals run.
“Obviously, losing him will be a big blow to TNT as he was an integral part of our plans moving forward,” said returning TNT Coach Chot Reyes.
“But if there’s one thing our current reality has taught us is the ability to pivot, re-strategize, and bounce forward,” he added.
