TAICHUNG SUNS DEFENDS SIGNING OF JORDAN HEADING VS SBP PROTEST
Taichung Suns, a team in Taiwan's basketball league T1, released a brief statement after Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) protested Jordan Heading’s controversial commitment to the team.
A short statement released by Taichung Sun on Sunday pointed out that they “have complied with all the legal requirements and [the signing has been done] in compliance with the Fiba International Basketball General Transfer Regulations.”
This was after SBP released a short statement on Thursday saying that Heading has a live contract with the federation to be part of the Gilas Pilipinas squad following his stint with Terrafirma in the PBA Season 46 Draft last March.
The contract runs until March 2023, the Philippine federation said.
“We have formally written Fiba and the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association in connection with the reported playing in Taiwan for the Taichung Suns of Mr. Jordan Timothy Heading and have informed them that Mr. Heading has a ‘live’ legal contract with the SBP until March 2023,” the statement read.
The T1 League will kick off on November 27, while Taichung is set to play its first match against the Taiwan Beer Herobears on December 11.
Heading will be teaming up with former NBA standouts and PBA imports Alonzo Gee and Donte Greene, when given a green light to play with the Suns.
