The new Filipina ace competed yesterday in the Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in which Ramos bagged the two gold medals with a 67kg lift in the snatch, and 147kg for the total lift, and also won a silver in the clean and jerk of the women’s 45kg division with a record of 80kg.

Seemingly, the 16-year old Ramos is a back-to-back champion for she also took home a gold and a silver medal in the same event, which was held online last year.

Along with Ramos, Oliwia Drzazga of Poland took silver with 143kg total lift, and Najla Khoirunnisa of Indonesia took bronze with 142kg total lift.

Ramos has been trained at the Hidilyn Diaz Weightlifting Gym by instructor Allen Jafrus Diaz, and is a recipient of the Alsons Power-Hidilyn Diaz Scholarship Program for promising weightlifters in Zamboanga City.

While Councilor Elbert Atilano praised Ramos’ victory saying that, “another feather to the city’s cap.”

On the other hand, Jeaneth Hipolito, a fourteen-year-old weightlifter, kicked off the country’s effort at the tournament by winning a bronze medal in the women’s 40kg category.
