In recognition for their hard work for the efficient staging of the Philippine Cup bubble, the PBA staff received a special citation from the PBA Press Corps during the Annual Awards Night on Sunday.

The success of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) bubble tournament was made possible by the non-stop work of the 17-man personnel headed by Deputy Commissioner Eric Castro.

The award presented by PBA Press Corps President Gerry Ramos of Spin.ph and Bryan Ulanday of Philippine Star was received by Castro during the awarding ceremonies via Zoom.

The special citation was one of the highlights during this year’s first-ever virtual awards night.

PBA staged its 45th season in a secure environment in Clark, Pampanga following protocols from Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

All 12 teams were housed in one hotel while games were played in a single venue at the Angeles University Foundation Gym.

Despite encountering trouble with Covid cases arising from the bubble, the PBA remained intact and resolved the problems.

Barangay Ginebra was crowned the Philippine Cup champion after a five-game finals match in a best-of-seven series against TNT.

With the PBA bubble accomplishing its lone conference at Clark, it became a model for other leagues in staging their similar bubble to hold their games amid the pandemic.

Other awardees were also recognized during the PBA Press Corps Annual Awards Night.
