MORE SENATORS DENOUNCE ‘SENSELESS’ KILLING OF FEU TAMARAWS FOOTBALL PLAYER
SENATORS Nancy Binay and Richard Gordon joined other colleagues in denouncing the senseless killing of Kieth Absalon and his cousin Nolven, who both died due to injuries sustained when an IED exploded in Masbate.
Binay said land mines are an evil plague that has turned fields into deathtraps.
“Wala pong paglalagyan sa isang sibilisadong lipunan ang karumaldumal na nangyari noong Linggo sa Masbate City na kumitil sa buhay ni Keith Absalon, at ng kanyang pinsan na si Neolven,’ Binay stressed.
“I stand with everyone else in condemning the senseless deaths of Keith and Nolven, and denounce this act of violence and irresponsible action by the New People’s Army. No amount of apology, justification or remorse would suffice to ease the pain over their loss,” she added.
Meanwhile, Gordon said that these killings must stop saying that the perpetrators should be punished.
Gordon called on the authorities to bring those responsible to justice with deliberate dispatch and hold them liable for their crime and issue the call to the NPA to respect civilians at all times and observe International Humanitarian Law.
In the long term, Gordon said, the government must strive to resolve this long-standing insurgency and work for lasting peace, so we freely develop our economy and make a better country.
