JERROLD MANGLIWAN GETS DISQUALIFIED FROM PARALYMPICS MEN’S 400M FINALS
The Filipino wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan was disqualified in the men’s T52-400m finals in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games Friday night at the Olympic Stadium.
Mangliwan violated Rule 18.5 of the World Para Athletics as he crossed outside his lane during overtakes.
Nevertheless, the Philippines’ flag bearer was clocked in at 1:00.80, placing at fifth-best of the race.
While the United States’ Isaiah Rigo has also been disqualified due to line infringement.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Sato Tomoki bagged the gold medal who finished the lane with a time of 55.39 seconds, United States’ Raymond Martin took the silver medal with a record of 55.59 seconds and Japan’s Ueyonabaru Hirokazu finished 59.95 seconds, bagging the bronze medal.
Despite being disqualified, Mangliwan is still set to see action in the men’s 100m and 1500m.
