JAJA SANTIAGO FUELS AGEO MEDICS TO COMPLETE GROUP ROUND SWEEP IN V. LEAGUE V CUP
Jaja Santiago hammers big 14 points with Ageo Medics to emerge as the top seed in Group B after marking a four-set triumph over the Toray Arrows, 18-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-14, Sunday at the Tokorozawa Municipal Gymnasium.
Saitama Ageo Medics finished a five-game elimination sweep and will now enter the 2020-21 Japan V. League V Cup semifinals.
The Filipina middle blocker emerged as the most efficient scorer in the group who nailed 11 of her 17 attempts while adding two blocks and a service ace.
The 25-year-old is currently converting 65% of her attempts in the tournament.
Mami Uchiseto spearheaded Saitama with 20 points, all on kills, followed by Shainah Joseph who garnered 14 points, while Yuka Sato and Kyoko Aotagi contributed 13 points each.
Shino Nakata led Toray with game-high 23 points, while Kanako Noro and Airina Ogawa added 15 and 11 points respectively.
With the remarkable win, Ageo Medics have orchestrated their way to a semifinals showdown against main tournament champion JT Marvelous, which finished second in Group A with a 4-1 win-loss record.
The knockout semis will kick off on Saturday, March 27, 3 pm, at the Ota Ward Gymnasium in Tokyo with the Finals to be held the following day.
