ISAAC GO HAILED AS GILAS NEW CAPTAIN
Isaac Go has been positioned to lead the Gilas Pilipinas after grasping the position of team captain for the third window of the 2021 Fiba Asia Cup qualifiers.
A week before the upcoming qualifiers, the supposed-to-be team captain Rey Suerte will not be able to gun the team due to an ankle sprain.
Go will be the third captain of Gilas with Mike Nieto serving as one in the second window and Kiefer Ravena in the first window.
The 6-foot-7 cager from Ateneo and the top pick of the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft has helped the Gilas in seizing the 3-0 sweep against Thailand. He averaged 5.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Go also played during the 2018 William Jones Cup against South Korea bolstering a total of five points in the game.
The Philippines is set to play for a spot in Group A and participate in the continental tilt this August.
Gilas will battle South Korea on Wednesday and on Sunday, June 20, and Indonesia on Friday, June 18.
