With the pressure of bringing home the country's first Olympic gold medal, Hidilyn Diaz learned to embrace the expectations and demonstrated confidence in achieving her goal.

Diaz became a prime bet for the first Olympic gold after ending the Philippines’ 20-year medal drought when she clinched a silver medal during the 2016 Rio Olympics.

In Episode 1 of the documentary entitled ‘Let’s Go HD’ shown on the Facebook page of Kick-Start Coffee Brewed Awakening last July 1, Diaz showed a glimpse of her preparations for the upcoming quadrennial games.

Kinakabahan ako na everytime na naririnig ko na ‘gold na yan.’ Naisip ko na kailangan ko embrace na ito ang destiny ko, kailangan ko i-claim para manalo ako,” she said.

Despite the pressure, the Zamboanga native is unfazed and continues with her strength and conditioning training together with her team in Malaysia.

“We’re doing our best, to make our training more productive,” said Diaz.

Diaz will be participating in the women’s 55kg event of the Tokyo edition of the multisport event.

She is among the 19 Olympic hopefuls that will represent the Philippines in the biggest sporting stage that is slated from July 23 to August 8.
