GILAS PILIPINAS NAMES 18-WOMEN POOL FOR SEA GAMES
Gilas Pilipinas Women named 18 players where the final-12 will be chosen to suit up for the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam slated from May 12 to 23.
Gilas Women head coach Patrick Aquino submitted the names of the players in the pool to the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) yesterday.
The team will be defending its title after bagging the gold medal in the 2019 SEA Games.
Afril Bernardino, Clare Castro, and Janine Pontejos who were part of the 2019-stint are also listed and expected to banner the roster.
While another renowned player, Former US NCAA player Mai-Loni Henson was also named and will try to secure a spot on the final lineup.
Also in the 18-man pool are Chack Cabinbin, Andrea Tongco, Kristine Cayabyab, Camille Clarin, Angel Surada, Gemma Miranda, Karl Ann Pingol, Katrina Guytingco, Khate Castillo, Gabi Bade, Ella Fajardo, Monique del Carmen, Stephanie Berberabe, and Malia Bambrick.
Gilas will have to bat for a second straight without Jack Animam, a twin-gold medalist in 2019 due to injuries sustained in the First Women’s Basketball League of Serbia.
