DELA NOCHE, IRAYA BANNER PH TEAM TO COMPETE IN ASIAN U19, U21 BEACH VOLLEY
Young standouts Jayrack Dela Noche and Alexander Iraya will parade the Philippine team for the first time in the upcoming 3rd Asian Under-19 and 4th Asian Under-21 Beach Volleyball Championships in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand.
Both from Victorias City in Negros Occidental, Dela Noche and Iraya, flew to Nakhon Pathom, Thailand on Monday afternoon with Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) board member Carmela Gamboa.
Both tournaments will serve as qualifiers for respective FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships.
The 3rd Asian U19 Beach Volleyball Championships is slated on July 3-6, while the 4th Asian U21 Beach Volleyball Championships is set on July 12-15.
The same venue hosted the recent AVC Continental Cup Final which saw China and Australia securing the lone slots for women’s and men’s for the Tokyo Games.
The Philippines took part also in the said tournament, wherein the men’s team bested Lebanon but were trounced by Australia, while the women’s squad put up a gallant stand against New Zealand.
Negrenses Dela Noche and Iraya trained in their province which was mentored by head coach Dondon Verayo and Teshi Ea.
The two players are standouts from the University of Santo Tomas high school boys beach volleyball team under the guidance of national team head coach Paul Jan Doloiras.
Both junior Tiger Spikers were unstoppable, leading UST to a 6-0 slate before the league was halted due to the pandemic.
The opponents of the Filipinos will be determined after the technical meeting.
