CIGNAL TO MISS ALOHI ROBINS-HARDY IN ITS PVL OPEN CONFERENCE CAMPAIGN

Cignal will miss the services of ace playmaker Alohi Robins-Hardy in the most anticipated 2021 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, which is slated on July 17 at the Centennial Gym in Laoag City.

Cignal captain Rachel Daquis confirmed the unfortunate news to Power and Play with Noli Eala that the 6-foot-3 setter would not be playing for Cignal in their PVL’s professional debut under a bubble format.

Si Alohi, hindi po makakasama sa amin this season, so ang setter po naming bago si Ayel Estrañero,” bared Daquis during her guesting with teammate Jheck Dionela on Saturday.

The 6-foot-3 setter was instrumental in Cignal’s silver medal finish in the 2019 Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference

The Fil-American was hailed as the Best Setter of the tourney and played a major role in their silver medal finish.

With Robins-Hardy skipping the season, Daquis said their two new teammates, Ayel Estranero and Klarisa Abriam, would fill in the void.

Estranero is set to run the plays, while Abriam will fill in the void left by former HD Spiker Jovelyn Gonzaga, who will play for her mother club Army.

Dionela added their head coach Shaq Delos Santos’ preparations for them emphasize more on floor defense since they will miss the height advantage of Alohi.

Ngayon, we’re focusing more on defense kasi sabi nga ni Coach Shaq, ‘Kung hindi man namin makuha sa taas, sa baba namin kukunin’,” the star libero said.

Kasi matatangkad nga ‘yung ibang teams, tapos kami medyo may mga nawalang matatangkad. So, kailangan naming i-balance so defense at receive yung pinakatinututukan namin,” she added.

Both players cannot wait to finally see action in the hardcourt and a lot of preparations are currently undergoing.

Bawal ang pangit ang gising,” the V-League Season 11 Conference Most Valuable Player ended.
