31ST SEA GAMES TO INCLUDE 10 EVENTS TO ITS ESPORTS ROSTER, RULES OUT DOTA, TEKKEN7, STARCRAFT
Esports will be returning to the 2021 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games as an official medal event that will take place in National Convention Center in Hanoi, Vietnam from November 21 to December 2.
The Vietnam Electronic Sports and Entertainment Association (VIRESA) has revealed the list of esports events that will be included in the biennial games.
League of Legends: Wild Rift is among the new addition to the 31st SEA Games and will be featuring separate categories for men and women.
Moreover, PUBG Mobile will also be staged with different events for individuals and teams.
Mobile events included Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Free Fire, and Arena of Valor while PC titles will be consisting of League of Legends, FIFA Online 4, and CrossFire.
This will be the second time esports are included in the multi-sport event with the Philippines staging the inaugural esports tournament during the 2019 SEA Games.
Only Arena of Valor and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang have remained from the 30th SEA Games roster while Dota 2, StarCraft II, HearthStone, Pro Evolution Soccer, and Tekken 7 have been removed from the lineup.
The Philippines have won a total of three golds, two silver, and a bronze during the esports debut in the regional games and was declared as the overall champion for esports.
