PARA-TEACHERS GET WELL-DESERVED RECOGNITION FROM DEPED ANTIQUE
THE DEPARTMENT of Education in Antique will properly recognize para-teachers who helped public school students in the delivery of distance learning.
“We will be having a culmination program on June 7 for the para-teachers as our gesture of expressing our gratitude to them as they soon end their services,” DepEd Antique School Governance and Operations Division chief Evelyn Remo said.
“We have pupils who have difficulty because of the remote or distant learning due to the Covid19 disease and so these para-teachers were the ones who assisted them,” she added.
The Department of Labor and Employment Antique hired 728 para-teachers assigned to different schools and district offices in the province.
The para-teachers receive a daily wage of P395.
They conduct home visits to tutor learners in elementary and high school.
The hiring of para-teachers is part of the Government Internship Program of the DOLE.
In addition to teaching learners, they also assisted regular teachers in reproducing and preparing module.
Remo said para-teachers are education graduates not yet hired by DepEd or graduates of other courses who have the willingness to assist in the learning process.
