NEGROS OCC 2ND DISTRICT ESTABLISHES SHA PROGRAM FOR DEPED-SAGAY TEACHERS

/ 29 July 2021

NEGROS Occidental Second District Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva allocated P1.12 million for the establishment of a School Heads Academy program that will train public school teachers to become school leaders.

Cueva signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Department of Education-Sagay Acting Superintendent Arlene Bermejo and Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology President Renante Egcas for the program.

“I hope this will be one of the ways to help our teachers become efficient managers of our schools and further improve the learning of our schoolchildren,” Cueva said.

The SHA aims to institutionalize a platform to formally train and prepare aspiring public school teachers in Sagay to become school heads in various DepEd schools and offices.

Under the agreement, 25 qualified teachers will be trained in NONESCOST for three succeeding semesters.

All fees including tuition and miscellaneous, as well as allowances for mobile phone load, transportation and others will be provided by the office of Cueva.

The DepEd-Sagay will select personnel qualified to be scholars and coordinate with the two partners in the implementation of the program.

To effectively implement the SHA, NONESCOST will grant teachers access and use of its facilities, resources, and academic platform.

The university will also train the teachers by using its post-graduate academic or short-term course program, and adopt appropriate modalities to the competencies required of the SHA.
