THE RISING number of Covid19 cases prompted local officials in General Trias City in Cavite to scrap face-to-face graduation ceremonies.

Dr. Jonathan Luseco, the director of the City Health Office, recommended the postponement of in-person events like graduation and promotion ceremonies.

“There were graduation rites that were postponed on Monday and Tuesday because of the sudden increase in Covid cases,” he said.

“After we convened a meeting with the local IATF led by Mayor Jon Jon Ferrer, there were measures put in place, especially the stricter implementation of health standards, including the recommendation for some schools to opt for limited face-to-face, virtual walk-throughs, to minimize the contact and exposure of the children,” Luseco added.

The General Trias City Health Office suggested that the end-of-year ceremonies be conducted virtually because public safety is their top priority.
