THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology Cagayan Provincial Office is providing free wifi access and free cellphone charging services in certain places within Cagayan and Isabela affected by the typhoon.

The charging stations are available at the DICT Office at 2 Bagay Road, San Gabriel Village, Tuguegarao City.

The operation started last November 14.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II said the department deployed communication assistance in both provinces for emergency response.

“We commend DICT Cagayan for immediately responding to the need for communication amid this unprecedented disaster. The DICT will be deploying additional assistance in communication and emergency response to the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela through the Free Wi-Fi for All Program and the Government Emergency Communications System,” he said.

Meanwhile, DICT Cagayan assured the observance of health and safety protocols for the wifi and charging stations to prevent the transmission of Covid19.

The agency is also ramping up the restoration and deployment of free wifi in typhoon-hit and flooded areas in the country to aid both the national and local governments.
