BANGSAMORO GOV’T LAUNCHES MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

THE BANGSAMORO government will open a scholarship grant for students in the region who want to pursue a medical course.

The Bangsamoro Medical Scholarship Program will cover the tuition, miscellaneous fees, monthly allowance, book allowance, uniforms, and laboratory fees, among others.

The program was allotted a budget of P14.345 million.

“This memorandum of agreement is the first step towards the realization of more healthcare professionals, especially doctors, for BARMM and Region 12,” Health Minister Dr. Bashary Latiph said.

University of Southern Mindanao President Francisco Gil Garcia said that the initiative aims to address the lack of medical professionals in Bangsamoro.

“The scholarship is open to Bangsamoro people residing in the region, especially those health professionals who are serving in government health offices, children and dependent of BARMM employees, barangay health workers, traditional birth attendants and families of Moro Islamic Liberation Front combatants, current medical students who intend to avail the program this year, and those who have not granted with scholarship program before,” the Bangsamoro government said on its website.
