10 SCHOOLS IN ILOILO TO SERVE AS EVACUATION CENTERS
TEN schools in Iloilo City will be tapped as evacuation centers for victims of Typhoon Odette.
Thousands of families in Visayas and Mindanao were evacuated before the typhoon hit land. However, hundreds of houses were destroyed by the powerful typhoon.
The following schools will be used to house displaced families: Iloilo City Community College, John B Lacson University, Melchor Nava National High School, Philippine Science National High School, Jalandoni ES, Baluarte ES, Manuel L Quezon ES, PHINMA University of Iloilo, Sagrado and Fort San Pedro National HS.
Local officials in Iloilo went around communities to check the damage sustained by residents.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education has not yet released the number of schools that were affected by Odette.
