UP-MINDANAO HOLDS VIRTUAL LECTURE SERIES ON ANTHROPOLOGY

THE DEPARTMENT of Social Sciences of the University of the Philippines-Mindanao  will hold a virtual lecture series on anthropological methods for students, teachers and researchers.

“Academics, students, and other parties interested in learning social science research tools/methods we can use in doing research in this new normal are welcome to attend,” the university said.

Prof. Ramon Guillermo of UP Diliman will share his knowledge on the migration of humanities to digital platforms.

Titled “Ang Salita sa Mata ng Makina: Digital na Humanidades at Penomenolohiya ng Pagbasa”, the lecture will be on October 28, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Meanwhile, Prof. Skilty Labastilla of the Ateneo de Manila University will discuss “Applied Anthropology Research in Covid19 Times: Strategies and Ethical Considerations” on October 29. The lecture will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

On November 9, Prof. Andrea Malaya Ragragio and Prof. Myfel Paluga of UP Mindanao will put emphasis on the essence of doing fieldwork and reading of classic texts in ethnology. Their lecture will run from 4 p.m. to 6 pm.
