SOLON URGES YOUNG SCIENTISTS TO SERVE THE NATION AMID CALAMITY
KABATAAN Party-list Rep. Raoul Manuel urged young scientists to dedicate their talents to serve the nation amid a calamity.
Manuel made the statement in his speech during the Recognition Program at the University of the Philippines Diliman Institute of Chemistry.
The solon encouraged the young scientists to remain vigilant and socially conscious and to prepare themselves to serve the people and contribute to building genuine national industries for the benefit of all.
He also highlighted in his speech the significant impact of projects like Project NOAH or Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards in mitigating the effects of natural disasters and stressed the need for sustainable funding and support for such initiatives.
He also questioned the necessity of reaching a point where lifesaving projects by scientists have to face budget cuts and termination by national agencies.
Thus, Manuel ended his speech by urging the government for a more proactive approach to disaster management and prevention.
