SOLON ACCEPTS CALL OF GROUP OF TEACHERS AND DECLARES CANDIDACY FOR SENATORIAL ELECTIONS
ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro positively answered the call of her fellow teachers and announced that she will run for senator in the 2025 elections.
Castro made the declaration during her speech at the 42nd anniversary of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers.
Castro, a deputy minority leader in the House of Representatives, was asked to join the senatorial race by fellow teachers.
“We want, through the Makabayan bloc, to have alternative candidates for the election because we do not feel that the political spat between the ruling class is enough, Marcos versus Duterte and other opposition candidates, but we want to push for true change, a Makabayan alternative to those running for senator,” Castro said.
“With that, I am accepting the challenge given by the Alliance of Concerned Teachers to our people,” she added.
Castro is on her third term as ACT Teachers party-list representative, which means she will be restricted from seeking a fourth stint due to term limits.
