SENATOR Raffy Tulfo filed a bill that will establish a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Training and Assessment Center in Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
Under Senate Bill 2175, the center shall provide technical-vocational training and skills development programs to students from low-income families and out-of-school youths, including college dropouts and persons with disabilities, in Maasin City and neighboring communities in Southern Leyte.
The Center shall train local residents to become productive, self-reliant and globally competitive.
Tulfo said that most of the people in Maasin City are farmers and fishermen.
A training center will enhance the skills and technical capabilities of residents in Maasin City, making them more competitive.
The Center shall consider in the design of relevant technical-vocational training programs a competency assessment of the socioeconomic profile, employment conditions and opportunities, business climate, market and industry potentials, resources available and presence of support structures, including the literacy level and skills readiness of the host area and adjacent communities.
