SENATOR UNDERSCORES IMPORTANCE OF YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN SHAPING THE FUTURE

/ 6 May 2025

SENATOR Christopher ‘Bong’ Go renewed his call for Filipino youth to take an active role in nation-building by participating in the upcoming midterm elections scheduled for May 12.

The senator emphasized the crucial role of the youth sector in shaping the country’s future.

Dito nagsisimula ang tunay na pagbabago,” he said.

The 2025 national and local elections will determine 12 senators, all 316 members of the House of Representatives, and thousands of provincial, city, and municipal officials.

Go reminded the youth that suffrage is not only a right but a responsibility.

He urged first-time voters to educate themselves about candidates’ platforms and track records and to engage in constructive political dialogue.

The senator acknowledged the growing political awareness among younger Filipinos, citing the increased turnout in voter registration and active involvement in online discussions.

According to data from the Commission on Elections, more than 2 million first-time voters are expected to join the polls in 2025, many of whom belong to Generation Z.

As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Youth, Go reaffirmed his support for legislation and programs that empower young Filipinos, not only through civic engagement but also through education, employment, and digital inclusion.
