SENATOR SLAMS FATAL HAZING, SAYS VIOLENCE HAS NO PLACE IN ANY BROTHERHOOD

/ 7 March 2026

SENATOR Joel Villanueva strongly condemned the fatal hazing incident that claimed the life of maritime freshman Mark Kenneth Alcedo in General Trias City.

Villanueva denounced the reported hazing that led to the student’s death, stressing that violence has no place in any organization or in a civilized society.

“Wala pong puwang sa isang sibilisadong lipunan o anumang samahan ang karahasan, lalo na kung ito ay isinasagawa sa pamamagitan ng hazing,” the senator said.

The senator also extended his condolences to the victim’s family, expressing solidarity with them as they seek justice for the young student whose life was cut short.

Villanueva urged authorities to immediately track down and hold accountable all individuals responsible for the incident.

“We call on our authorities to hunt down and bring to justice everyone involved in this heinous act,” Villanueva said, emphasizing that society must never tolerate hazing, especially when it leads to the tragic loss of young lives.

Hazing-related incidents have long been a serious concern in the country, prompting stricter enforcement of laws prohibiting the practice in fraternities, organizations, and similar groups.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Alcedo’s death.
