SENATOR PUSHES FOR THE FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF LAW ESTABLISHING LIBRARIES
SENATOR Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. called for the full implementation of the law establishing congressional, city and municipal libraries and reading centers.
Senate Bill 1580 filed by Revilla seeks to amend Republic Act 7743 to ensure that every library and reading center will be provided with the latest computer and electronic library technology to best serve the people.
“The phenomenon of technology has taken the world by storm. Its uses seem limitless, especially when it comes to the dissemination of information,” Revilla said in his explanatory note.
“The children of the world are no longer restricted within four walls of their classrooms, nor are they limited only to the use of books and magazines,” he added.
The senator lamented that since the enactment of Republic Act 7743 to put up libraries and reading centers in every city, municipality and barangay, its intended purpose has yet to be fully implemented across the nation.
“It is high time we push for the full implementation of this monumental piece of negotiation,” Revilla said.
