THE SENATE Committee on Basic Education led by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Monday started fine-tuning the proposed Batang Magaling Act.

Gatchalian headed the discussions of the technical working group on Senate Bill 2022 that seeks to address the gaps in the K to 12 program.

The measure seeks to strengthen collaboration between the Department of Education, local government units, academic communities and industry partners to address the mismatch of K to 12 graduates and the demands of the labor market.

The bill aims to increase career opportunities for senior high school graduates.

The panel aims to endorse the bill for plenary discussions when the Senate resumes session in July.

Gatchalian earlier urged the DepEd, Commission on Higher Education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to work more closely in reviewing the senior high school program and ensuring the smooth transition of K to 12 graduates.
