STUDENT gamers who are exceptional in electronic sports may now apply for a scholarship grant.

Globe Telecom and campus sports organization Esports AcadArena on Sunday launched what it referred to as the country’s first esports scholarship.

Applicants must be a member of any three-star accredited AcadArena partner student organization to be eligible.

There will be two types of scholarship, namely, the Competitive Merit scholarship which would be granted to rosters and players who have shown good character and performance, and the other is the Leadership Merit scholarship to be given to support staff who contributed to the growth of campus esports.

The scholarship will cover 25 to 100 percent of the chosen scholars’ tuition expenses.

The program also offers a Family Goodgame Grant which would provide P25,000 to P50,000 to the families of the scholars participating in certain AcadArena tournaments.

Local campus esports organizations can still apply for an AcadArena accreditation which would give them certain benefits such as monthly tournament support, exclusive league access, industry support, scholarships and more.

Other details regarding the eligibility and application process would be announced later this year.
