QC ORPHANAGE: NO VISITORS IN PAST 540 DAYS
THE GENTLE HANDS Orphanage in Quezon City disputed reports that an asymptomatic visitor caused the Covid19 outbreak in the facility.
Gentle Hands Inc., the social welfare agency that manages the orphanage, said it had no visitors for the past 540 days of strict quarantine.
“We have not received any visitors at all due to the fact that some of the children are immunocompromised and we have prohibited non-members of the staff from going inside the facility,” said GHI founder and executive director Charity Heppner-Graff.
Graff noted that no personnel had been going in or out apart from the need to go out for vaccinations last August.
She maintained that they have kept strict health protocols inside the facility.
The Quezon City’s Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit earlier reported that 122 individuals, including 99 minors, tested positive for Covid19.
QC CESU chief Dr. Rolando Cruz said an asymptomatic adult allegedly visited the orphanage and spread the virus.
Graff said the patients are showing varying degrees of symptoms that are being managed, but “nobody is suffering from respiratory distress.”
