PREPARE LEARNERS FOR FUTURE — BRIONES

/ 26 March 2022

EDUCATION Secretary Leonor Briones called on teachers and other stakeholders to prepare learners for the future.

“The future cannot wait for us. When our children graduate, everything that we have taught them will become irrelevant because knowledge will have changed. Our teachers have to change along with our learners, and they will not be only teaching, but they will also be learning along with the students,” Briones said.

“We have to prepare our learners for the future. We are already late but we should not be late for the future. We should never forget our history, what we are as a people, and how we look,” she added.

Last year, the DepEd established the Education Futures Unit to evaluate and integrate trends and advancements in learning and teaching processes. The goal of the unit is to also help the youth gain skills that are relevant in the future.

Briones also visited the Benguet Special Education Center to oversee the implementation of health and safety protocols for the limited face-to-face classes.

She interacted with participating learners and witnessed the conduct of in-person classes.
