60,000 STUDENTS TO BENEFIT FROM MANILA’S EXPANDED NUTRITION PROGRAM

/ 10 May 2026

MANILA Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has announced the expansion and relaunch of the city’s milk nutrition program, “Yormilk: Kaagapay ng Batang Maynila sa Paglaki,” also known as Yormilk 2.0, which is set to resume in June.

The City Government of Manila said preparations are ongoing for the expanded rollout, which aims to strengthen the nutrition and development of public school children through the regular provision of milk.

Domagoso said the program reflects the city’s continuing commitment to improving child welfare and addressing malnutrition among young learners.

During a recent visit to Manila City Hall, Marcus Andaya met with the mayor to discuss the growing demand for milk supplies, particularly from dairy farmers in Batangas, as the program’s coverage is set to widen.

City officials said more than 60,000 students are expected to benefit from Yormilk 2.0.

Originally, the program covered 21,651 daycare students. Under the expanded version, beneficiaries will now include kindergarten pupils and Grade 1 students enrolled in public schools across Manila.

Officials said the expansion is designed to help improve the health, nutrition, and overall development of children during their early school years, when proper nourishment is most critical.

At the same time, the program is expected to support local dairy farmers by increasing demand for locally produced milk, strengthening the link between public nutrition efforts and agricultural livelihoods.

The Yormilk initiative was first introduced during Domagoso’s earlier term as mayor and is now being revived as part of the city government’s broader push to reinforce health and education support programs for children in Manila.
