PHINMA EDUCATION OPENS DOORS FOR 163,000 UNDERSERVED STUDENTS
MORE than 163,000 students—mostly from low-income families in the Philippines and Indonesia—gained access to higher education this year through PHINMA Education Holdings, Inc. (PEHI).
Committed to reaching those often overlooked by traditional education systems, PEHI has grown into Southeast Asia’s largest private education network focused on underserved communities.
This surge in enrollment, coupled with strong performance from new schools and a broader market reach, contributed to a net income of P1.5 billion—an 8 percent increase from the previous year.
“These results reflect our deep commitment to student success,” said PHINMA Education Chief Financial Officer Daisy Montinola. “Our continued investments in student support systems and retention programs have not only strengthened our operations but also reaffirmed our mission to serve.”
Across its 12 schools, PHINMA Education provides holistic, student-centered support—including academic coaching, career mentoring, and life guidance—designed to keep students on track and help them succeed.
Its scholarship programs further lower the cost of education, expanding access for underserved learners. The Sahabat Horizon Scholarship in Indonesia offers up to 50 percent tuition coverage, while the Hawak Kamay Scholarship in the Philippines goes further—reducing tuition fees to as low as P5,500 per semester, with no entrance exam or maintaining grade requirement.
Driven by increased enrollment and improved retention, PHINMA Education’s revenues rose 14 percent to P6.5 billion, while EBITDA climbed 15 percent to P2.2 billion—boosted by cost-efficiency measures and lower interest expenses.
“It’s equally rewarding to see our financial growth reflect the progress of our students,” Montinola added. “We’re excited to expand our reach and empower more students across Southeast Asia to transform their lives through education.”
In line with this mission, PHINMA Education recently added Saint Jude College in Dasmariñas, Cavite and Kalbis University in Jakarta, Indonesia to its growing network.
To meet rising demand in underserved areas, the company is preparing to open new campuses in San Pablo (Laguna), Roxas City, Bacolod City, and Butuan City in the coming years.
