THE PHILIPPINES will host the 14th ASEAN WorldSkills Competition in 2025, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Director General Suharto Mangudadatu said.
“It is with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility that we step up to the task of organizing this prestigious event. Our team is excited about the opportunity to showcase our city’s hospitality, culture, and capabilities on a global stage,” Mangudadatu said.
He said that hosting and participating in international competitions will help improve the country’s tech-voc system’s readiness and competitiveness.
“Participating, and more so hosting of World Skills competitions, is an investment that would result to economic gains for the country through the WorldSkills standards that we should adopt,” the TESDA chief added.
The Philippines, through TESDA Deputy Director General for TESD Operations and Head of Delegation Aniceto Bertiz III, received the ceremonial ASEAN WorldSkills flag from the Chairman of the WorldSkills Singapore Council Tan Kok Yam during the closing rites of the 13th ASEAN WorldSkills Competition last July 27, 2023.
