LOCAL government units will help the Department of Social and Welfare Development in distributing cash aid for indigent students starting next week, according to Secretary Erwin Tulfo.

“Starting next week naman, tutulong na ang local government units,” Tulfo said.

“Pero ang magma-manage po nito ay ang DSWD social workers, mga empleyado po ng DSWD main ang magbabantay. Ang payout lamang po ay sa munisipyo at lungsod, para po synchronized tayo at hindi magulo,” he added.

Tulfo said the DSWD will sign a memorandum of agreement with the Department of the Interior and Local Government for the distribution of monetary assistance at various LGUs.

The official said the massive crowds that gathered at the department’s headquarters and regional offices over the weekend were the result of a miscommunication.
