LGUS BOOST PUBLIC EDUCATION THROUGH ICT AND HEALTH PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTS

/ 12 July 2025

LOCAL government units (LGUs) are investing their Special Education Fund (SEF) in various school improvement initiatives, particularly in information and communications technology (ICT) and health programs.

“Siguraduhin natin na matalino nating nagagamit ang SEF dahil kailangan ng mas marami pang suporta para sa edukasyon,” said Education Secretary Sonny Angara.

“Unti-unti, nakikita natin ang effort ng ating LGUs — hindi lang para i-utilize ang pondo, kundi para gamitin ito sa paghatid ng tunay na pagbabago sa ating mga mag-aaral,” he added.

In Angeles City, Pampanga, students at Governor Rafael Lazatin Integrated School are now more engaged in learning with the opening of two modern computer laboratories this year under the city’s ICT Modernization Program.

Aimed at achieving an ideal student-to-computer ratio and enhancing digital learning experiences, the new facilities are the 16th ICT projects established citywide with the support of the SEF.

Each laboratory is fully equipped with 40 computers, fiber optic internet connection, smart televisions, printers, air conditioning units, tables, and chairs—creating a conducive environment for digital learning.

“With faster computers, reliable internet, and interactive learning platforms, our students are now more engaged, collaborative, and confident in developing their digital literacy and critical thinking skills,” said Principal Ma. Luina Rivera.
