/ 14 January 2022

THE PHILIPPINES is coordinating with other drug manufacturers to expand the emergency use authorization of Covid19 vaccines for pediatric inoculation, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said.

Galvez said the country’s pandemic task force is eyeing the use of other brands of vaccines so that there would be two vaccines for kids, including those 0 to 4 years old.

“Kami po ay nakipag-ugnayan na sa ibang mga brand para po magkaroon po tayo ng EUA dito po sa aged 3 to 11,” Galvez said.

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration earlier approved the use of Pfizer’s Covid19 vaccine for kids aged 5 to 11.

The Pfizer vaccine for kids are set to arrive in the last week of January.

The government initially ordered 15 million of these vaccines reformulated for children.

Galvez noted that they will order 10 million more jabs.

The mini roll out of the inoculation of kids aged 5 to 11 will be on February 1 to 7.
