/ 19 October 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Health and the United States Agency for International Development launched a mental health care app especially designed for Filipinos.

“Lusog-Isip” is the first mobile app for self-care and mental health culturally-adapted for Filipinos.

The application includes screening and self-care tools, intervention programs, and referral networks to assist users in navigating and managing their emotional and mental health.

“Lusog-Isip” is available on the AppStore and will soon be accessible on Google Play Store.

At least 3.6 million Filipinos suffer from one or more mental, neurological, or substance use disorders, according to a survey conducted by the Philippine WHO Special Initiative for Mental Health in early 2020.

Present during the launch were Patrick Angeles, Department of Health Program coordinator, USAID RenewHealth; Dr. Ma. Regina Hechanova-Alampay, chief of party, USAID RenewHealth; Frances Prescilla Cuevas, chief of the DOH’s Mental Health Division;  Amadeus Pagente, supervising program health officer of the DOH; Dr. Yolanda Oliveros, director of the National Center for Disease Prevention and Control; and Honey Obusan, event host.
