DILG PUSHES NATIONWIDE BAN ON KARAOKE, VIDEOKE SOUNDS
THE DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government has urged local government units to pass ordinances that will ban the use of videoke, karaoke and playing of loud music during online class hours.
DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said that loud music can disturb classes and make students lose focus on their lessons.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan earlier sought to ban unnecessary activities that might cause disturbance to students.
Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco already requested the city council to ban the use of karaoke during school hours.
Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Franciso ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso on Thursday signed an ordinance prohibiting the daytime use of videoke and karaoke machines to avoid disturbing online classes.
Effective immediately, the ordinance will be enforced from Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Violators will be fined P1,000 and P2,000 for the first and second offense, and P3,000 for the third and succeeding offenses.
