DILG FUNDS P2.36-B IN SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECTS FOR INSURGENCY-CLEARED BARANGAYS

/ 18 June 2026

THE DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) continues to expand access to quality educational facilities in insurgency-cleared communities through the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP).

The agency said the program has funded 645 school building projects nationwide, with a total allocation of ₱2.36 billion.

These projects are expected to deliver 782 classrooms, benefiting more than 714,000 residents across 628 barangays nationwide.

Based on DILG data, 629 classrooms have already been completed, while the rest remain in various stages of implementation, including pre-procurement, procurement, and construction.

In Palawan, local officials reported improved learning conditions following the construction of new classrooms. In Eastern Samar, some of the school buildings have also been utilized as evacuation centers during emergencies and natural disasters.

“The SBDP reflects the Marcos administration’s commitment to providing safe and adequate classrooms in formerly conflict-affected communities. Beyond physical infrastructure, the program is creating opportunities for young Filipinos to learn, thrive, and help shape the future of their communities,” the DILG said.
